Journey by Moonlight

 December 5 2009- February 27, 2010

Photography dealer Kathy McCarver Root and her gallery, KMR Arts, proudly announce the opening of a one woman show of fine art photography by Marcia Lippman entitled, "Journey by Moonlight." Marcia Lippman is a New York based photographer whose work invites the viewer to take part in a stunning journey of spirit and imagination. Through numerous travels to faraway places, Lippman seeks beauty through her transformative photographs. Lippman’s most recent body of work, entitled, "Journey by Moonlight" is a result of journeys to Italy and Buenos Aires, Argentina. Lippman states, "Transcendent beauty reminds us of our interconnection of soul, rapture, wholeness and silence."

Paris à La Mode

 September 26 - November 28, 2009

On September 26, 2009, KMR Arts will open it latest exhibit, "Paris à La Mode" which will include works by Roger Catherineau, Georges Dambier, William Klein, Jacques Henri Lartigue, Jean Moral and Louis Stettner. "Paris: à la Mode" will contain photographs that evoke moments of style, grace and fashion. As McCarver Root says, "From the prewar images of Jean Moral for Harper’s Bazaar to William Klein’s mod interpretations of fashion’s shift in the 1960’s, the influence of twentieth century Paris is limitless."


Lillian Bassman: Lingerie & Cracks

 July 18 - September 5, 2009

On July 18, KMR Arts will open it latest exhibit, "Lillian Bassman: Lingerie & Cracks" Lillian Bassman (b.1917) is a living legend in the world of fashion photography. She worked as a textile designer and fashion illustrator before becoming an Art Director under the guidance of Alexey Brodovitch, the legendary creative director of Harper's Bazaar. She soon began to photograph assignments and became one of the more prolific photographers in the 1940's and 1950's. She photographed Paris couture and fashion stories for Harper's Bazaar and her advertising clients included Chanel, Warner's Lingerie, Balenciaga, among others.


Two Views of Nature

 May 22 - July 11, 2009

On May 22, KMR Arts’ will feature "Crawl", a body of work by established fine arts photographer, Sally Gall. Gall is known as a sensual interpreter of nature who combines impressive printing skills with a rigorous but romantic vision. The works in "Crawl" were made during the spring and fall of 2007 and comprise Gall’s second body of color photographs. Gall's work has always been about the sensual experience of being in the natural world, a world that encompasses wilderness as well as cultivated nature. In this series, her focus is on the world of insects that live and prosper in grasses, a place of mystery and beauty.


Landscape: Voyage

 March 7 - May 16, 2009

Photography dealer Kathy McCarver Root and her gallery, KMR Arts, proudly announce the opening of its latest show of fine art photography, entitled "Landscape: Voyage." The exhibition will open March 7 with a reception from 4-6:S0pm and will continue through May 16, 2009.
