KMR Arts is proud to present Sandi Fellman: Planetarium. Please join us for the opening reception with the artist on Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 1 – 4 pm. This is Fellman’s fourth solo show with KMR Arts.
Sandi Fellman’s distinguished 30 year career in photography shifted when in 2012, the artist turned her creative energies to ceramics. The artist began learning the art and craft of ceramics at the world renowned Greenwich House Pottery Studio. “Greenwich House Pottery is one of the great gifts of New York.”, wrote Jerry Saltz. Fellman’s intense mastery of the medium of ceramics has led her to create vessels that are handmade, one of a kind stoneware and porcelain. The sensuality of form, palette, and surface merge uniquely in the making of each piece.
As the artist moved from the two dimensional medium of photography to the three dimensional medium of ceramics, Fellman began to close the loop creatively. The square and rectangular format of photography yielded to the rounded shapes of ceramics. The artist describes the inspiration for Planetarium as the experience of lying on your back, looking up, gazing at the skies and seeing rings and smoky veils around the planets. The vessels Fellman created developed into metallic, glowing, shimmery objects, just as the planets in their place appear, in constant orbit in their consistent paths. For the last 15 years Fellman has steadily and patiently channeled her artistic talents towards ceramics. The resulting objects exemplify the play of dualities: light vs. dark, interior vs. exterior, shine vs. matte, modern vs. ancient. These characteristics inform this constant discourse in the creative process. This duality is consistent within both Fellman’s photography and her ceramics.
Fellman describes her process, “Staying in your zone is how you build a body of work, a kind of meditation of creative practice.”

Sandi Fellman’s ceramics have been available at galleries and high-end retailers in the US and abroad. Fellman’s photographs are in numerous permanent collections including The Museum of Modern Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, La Bibliothèque Nationale, Paris, France, The Los Angeles County Museum of Art, The Houston Museum of Art.
