Kathryn McCarver Root began her romance with photography upon moving to New York City, where she landed an internship with Esquire Magazine. For the next 20 years, McCarver Root worked as a Photo Editor for books (monographs of Lillian Bassman and David Seymour/Chim) and prestigious magazines (Esquire, Us Weekly, and InStyle). McCarver Root has worked with some of the best and the brightest contemporary/commercial photographers such as Ruven Afanador, Jake Chessum, Davies and Starr, Miki Duisterhof, Mary Ellen Mark, Maura McEvoy, Mark Seliger, Stewart Shining, Albert Watson, Ben Watts, Kenneth Willardt, and Jim Wright, to name just a few.
After moving to Litchfield County, Connecticut, McCarver Root began her consulting business, working with individual and corporate clients to purchase and install photography collections. McCarver Root is an avid collector herself and brings that enthusiasm to each project.
