Stephanie Lear Henderson

May 9 - May 31, 2026

The Judy Black Memorial Park and Gardens is pleased to welcome Stephanie Lear Henderson and her exhibition, “In Color,” hosted by KMR Arts, on view at the park beginning Friday, May 1. This show features the artist’s abstract paintings using simple forms and bold colors.

An opening reception will be held on Saturday, May 9 from 3 to 5 p.m. at The Judy Black Memorial Park and Gardens, 1 Green Hill Rd, Washington Depot, CT 06794. This event is free and open to the public. Henderson’s paintings depict disciplined shapes with playful color combinations, drawing on the knowledge that color can influence human psychology, behavior, health and emotions. Her works focus on simplicity of form rendered in bold color combinations, tapping into the positive energy of those colors. Henderson describes her work, “I try to let the colors do the talking. I love seeing how the colors communicate without putting too much of myself into the paintings.” “I am thrilled to welcome Stephanie’s joyous, powerful work to Washington Depot again,” says Kathy McCarver of KMR Arts. A native of Thomasville, Georgia, Henderson earned a B.A. from the University of Virginia and an M.A. from the University of Georgia. Her work has been exhibited in the United States and Canada. “In Color" is Lear Henderson’s third solo exhibit at KMR Arts. Her artwork has appeared in Luxe Magazine 2026, Boston Home 2026, Southern Home 2025, Coastal Living 2024, House Beautiful 2024, Architectural Digest 2023, Luxe Interiors 2023, Boston Home 2020, Atlanta Magazine 2019, The Cut 2019, House Beautiful 2019 and The Washington Post.
